About This Guide
The Multi-workstation System (MWS) is part of the Automatic Order Matching and Execution System (AMS/3) that is a computer-based system designed to automatically record, match and execute orders to buy or sell securities listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (the Exchange).
This Guide is designed for the Exchange Brokers, their Authorised Clerks and their Administration staff. It assumes you are an authorised user, familiar with the Rules of the Exchange and capable of following screen-based instructions.
There are three different roles in the MWS namely, trader, supervisor and administrator.
- A user with trader role is responsible for inputting orders/trades.
- A user with supervisor role is responsible for monitoring and authorizing orders, and maintaining various MWS settings.
- A user with administrator role is responsible to prepare the system housekeeping works and to maintain the MWS system stability.
The functions of each role will be discussed separately in this guide.
This Guide illustrates what functions are available in the MWS, and provides step-by-step instructions on how to access and carry out these functions.
You are advised to read Part A — MWS Workstation before operating the MWS. It provides you with the necessary information such as information about the keyboard, mouse, function key usage and the common screen layout.
The remaining parts from Part B to Part E show the input required and the information output by that function.
Part B — All Users Functions focus on functions such as MWS application starting, printer selection and various information enquiry available to all users.
Part C — Trader Functions include the various order input and enquiry on orders/trades placed by users, and acceptance of orders placed from ORS.
Part D — Supervisor Functions allow the monitoring, and approval of orders submitted by other users. These will also include functions for the maintenance of various risk management parameters. Supervisor bases on these parameters to define the conditions. Under these conditions, orders have to be approved before they can be sent to AMS/3 for execution.
Part E — Administration Functions refer to non-trading related operations such as the backup and restore of MWS. |
