HKEX Announces Results of Annual Review of Trading-fee Tiers for Stock Options

Market Operations
22 Nov 2016

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) will change the trading-fee tier of several of its Stock Option classes from 3 January 2017 based on its latest annual review of the classifications.

The trading-fee classifications are comprised of the following three tiers:

  • Tier 1: notional value above $25,000
  • Tier 2: notional value of $25,000 or below but above $10,000
  • Tier 3: notional value of $10,000 or below

The tier level of an option class is determined by the notional value of the total number of shares of the underlying stock in respect of an option contract during the review period.

The upcoming changes are shown in the table below. They will result in nine Stock Option classes with lower trading fees.
