No Trading Today in Securities and Derivatives Markets due to Issuance of Typhoon Signal No. 8

Market Operations
29 Sep 2011

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) announced that today's trading sessions in the securities and derivatives markets have been cancelled, due to the issuance of Typhoon Signal No. 8.

No securities clearing and settlement services will be provided for the day.

Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of HKEx, announced earlier today methods to determine the Official Settlement Prices (OSPs) for stock index options contracts which expire today, 29 September 2011, and the Final Settlement Prices (FSPs) for stock index futures and stock futures contracts that have their final trading day today.

As there will be no trading today, HKFE will follow the procedures for expiry days and last trading days and use the average of the index and relevant stock price quotations taken every five minutes on the next trading day to determine the OSPs and FSPs.

For the details of arrangements for trading, and clearing and settlement during typhoons and black rainstorms, please refer to the rule books and summary table, which can be accessed via the Market Operations section of the HKEx website athttp://www.hkex.com.hk (http://www.hkex.com.hk/eng/market/typhoons/TradingArrangement.htm).
