Equity Index Options in the After Hours Trading Session

 

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) will include the following Equity Index Options in the after-hours trading session (T+1 session) starting Monday, 14 May 2018:

• Hang Seng Index (HSI) Options
• Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI) Options
• Mini-HSI Options

In order to safeguard the market, the Trading Halt Mechanism (THM) will be introduced to the T+1 session. Trading in Equity Index Options contracts will be halted until the end of the T+1 session if:

• the highest bid of the corresponding spot month Equity Index Futures contract on the buying queue reaches its upper limit¹; or
• the lowest ask of the corresponding spot month Equity Index Futures contract on the selling queue reaches its lower limit¹.

1 - The THM will not be triggered if the spot month futures’ price reaches its upper/ lower limit but the highest bid in the buying queue/lowest ask in the selling queue does not.

2 - This activity only opens to Exchange Participants (EPs) who participated in after-hours trading session. Each EPs who participated in after-hours trading session will be entitled to receive two vouchers (Total worth HK$200) and registration will be based on first come first serve basis. Vouchers will be distributed to eligible recipients by 18 May 2018 via email. Should any disputes arise, the decision of HKEX shall be final.
