The Stock Exchange publishes Primary Market Database on its website

Corporate
28 Jul 1999

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong has today (Wednesday) published a Primary Market Database on its website as another free Internet service to investors.

Roger Lee, director, Trading and Information Services, told a news conference that the service would provide investors alternative and timely access to listed company information.

“This will both increase market transparency and help investors make informed investment decision,” Mr Lee said.

“The Primary Market Database will hold SDI daily summaries and selected listed company announcements since April 1, 1999 for five years. The listed company announcements, in both English and Chinese where it is applicable, include results announcements, securities buybacks and year 2000 compliance summaries.

“Listed company news will be available on the website within about 30 minutes after being disseminated through the Exchange’s electronic information services to information vendors.

“The current day index page will be automatically refreshed throughout the day at 20 minute intervals.  Investors will be able to make criteria based searches using any combination of stock code, stock name, date range or announcement type.  They will also be able to make searches based on key words,” Mr Lee said.

He said the Exchange was keen to provide the best technology infrastructure and automated electronic trading, market information and other support services in an increasingly globalised market place.

“We examined a number of similar overseas services while developing our own service.  We consider our system to be among the best in terms of English and Chinese language support, and multiple search capabilities,” Mr Lee said.

The Primary Market Database can be accessed at http://www.sehk.com.hk/primarket.
