Hongkong Clearing Launches Mobile Exhibition to Promote Investor Account Service
Hongkong Clearing today (Thursday) announced the launch of a mobile exhibition designed to introduce the features and benefits of the Investor Account Service. The exhibition will visit Tai Po, Mongkok, Causeway Bay, Tuen Mun, Central, Sham Shui Po, Tsim Sha Tsui and Tsuen Wan between 4 and 11 June 2000.
Demonstration and account-opening
Housed in a converted 40-foot shipping container, the exhibition includes demonstrations of Hongkong Clearing's interactive CCASS Phone System, through which investors can operate their Investor Accounts. A prototype of the company's Internet access facility, which will be introduced in the third quarter of 2000, is on display and a video and an on-screen presentation on the benefits and operations of the Investor Account Service will be shown. Hongkong Clearing's staff will also be on hand to process applications for the Investor Account Service.
The exhibition is part of an ongoing promotion campaign for the Investor Account Service that includes TV and MTR advertisements, posters and seminars.
"By bringing the road shows to neighbourhoods throughout Hong Kong, we hope to expand awareness of the Investor Account Service and its many benefits," said Stewart Shing, Hongkong Clearing's Chief Executive. "These benefits, and the waivers of both the $1,000 account-opening deposit and the $20 minimum monthly stock custody fee until 31 December 2000, make the Investor Account Service a cost-effective and convenient tool for Hong Kong investors."
Applications doubled in three months
Applications for the Investor Account Service have almost doubled since the introduction of fee waivers in February 2000. As of 27 May 2000, Hongkong Clearing had received a total of 5,721 applications, including 5,114 applications for Individual Accounts, 438 applications for Joint Individual Accounts and 169 applications for Corporate Accounts.
