Stock Exchange turnover

Today’s Stock Exchange turnover value was the third-largest in history and the second-largest this year (see tables 1 and 2 below).

Bank of China Limited (Bank of China, stock code: 3988)

Bank of China’s market capitalisation after the first day of trading in its shares stands at $244,185,666,672, the seventh-largest on the Stock Exchange as of 1 June 2006 (see table 3 below).  

Today’s Bank of China turnover value, $20,056,000,000, was the second-largest ever for a single listed company on a single trading day (see table 4 below).

Bank of China set a new record today for the number of orders in a single price queue with a total of 3,925 orders in $3.20 price queue (bid queue) at 10:46am.   

Note: The Stock Exchange increased the maximum number of outstanding orders per price queue in AMS/3 (the securities market trading system) from 4,000 to 8,000 on 29 May 2006.  The maximum number of outstanding orders per price queue was increased to 4,000 from 2,000 on 21 November 2005.
