Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has appointed Pont Chiu as its Head of Internal Audit, effective today (Thursday).

Mr Chiu has over 25 years of experience in audit, securities operations and management.  He has worked in several major local and international financial institutions and audit firms.  His most recent position was the Head of Internal Audit of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).  Prior to that, he was Head of Support Services at the HKMA.  Before joining the HKMA, he had held senior positions in Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong and London.  During the early stages of his career, Mr Chiu was an auditor with Coopers and Lybrand, and Peat Marwick.

Mr Chiu holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from the University of Birmingham and a Master of Business Administration degree in Export Management and International Business from the City University London in the United Kingdom.  He is a qualified accountant and a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
