Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) welcomes today’s (Wednesday’s) publication of the SFC’s Consultation Paper on the Regulation of Sponsors.

“Given the current growth of the Hong Kong IPO market and the important role of sponsors in the IPO process, appropriate reform in the regulation of sponsors is desirable,” said Charles Li, HKEx’s Chief Executive.

“An enhanced regime for the regulation of sponsors will contribute to the quality of our market.  HKEx strongly believes that maintenance of a quality market with high standards of disclosure and corporate governance is a long term competitive advantage for HKEx as a listing venue,” Mr Li added.
