Introduction
The HKEX Tech 100 Index is designed to measure the performance of 100 of the largest Hong Kong-listed companies with high exposure to key tech themes, that are eligible for Southbound Stock Connect, addressing growing market demand for diversified exposure to the technology sector.
Key features:
- Market capitalisation coverage: The index covers 100 large-cap and mid-cap companies, providing exposure to a broad range of listed companies, including those with significant growth potential.
- Listing history requirement and fast entry rule: While index constituents are generally required to have at least six months of listing history, the index incorporates a fast-entry mechanism to facilitate the timely inclusion of representative new stocks. This mechanism allows an eligible security to be added to the index outside of regular index reviews.
- Stock Connect eligibility: Index constituents must be eligible for Stock Connect. To ensure investability, an index constituent will be removed from the index if it becomes ineligible for Southbound Stock Connect between a regular index review.
- Extensive technology exposure: The index captures six technology and innovation themes, including artificial intelligence, biotech & pharmaceutical, electric vehicles & smart driving, information technology, internet and robotics, encompassing both leading and emerging industries for greater choice and access.
