LME Week Asia 2015 to Kick Off on 19 May

Corporate
07 May 2015

The third annual LME Week Asia, Asia's leading metals event hosted by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) and the London Metal Exchange (LME), begins on Tuesday 19 May with an impressive line-up of speakers, panel discussions, and events that promise to make this year's event the largest ever.

The metals seminar, the week's premier event, brings together hundreds of representatives from the metals and financial communities to discuss developments and investment opportunities in the metals industry and hear the latest plans from HKEx and the LME.

The seminar will start with an opening speech from Hong Kong's Financial Secretary John Tsang.  HKEx Chief Executive Charles Li will deliver a welcome address followed by a keynote speech by HKEx Co-head of Global Markets and LME Chief Executive Garry Jones.  In addition, Mr Li will be the moderator of a panel discussion on the internationalisation of the Chinese commodity futures market.  The panel will include the chairmen of two Mainland futures exchanges and the chairman of a Mainland brokerage firm.

"LME Week Asia has grown each year and we're excited to continue the momentum in 2015," said Mr Li.  "We are seeing a budding commodities eco-system in Hong Kong with more networking events and important discussions about the future of metals trading and hedging in Asia."

The panel discussions scheduled for LME Week Asia will look at commodity market fundamentals, the internationalisation of China's commodity futures market and commodity market trends in China, among other topics, with speakers from the Dalian Commodity Exchange, Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange and some of the top traders, brokers, producers and consumers from the global commodities industry.  A full programme is available on the HKEx Group website.
