The Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE) said today that Hang Seng Properties Sub-index (PSI) Futures and Options got off to a good start on their first day of trading on HKATS, the Exchange's electronic trading platform.

Fifty-two PSI contracts were traded, and the total was made up of 35 PSI Futures contracts and 17 PSI Options contracts.

"The initial response to PSI Futures and Options has been encouraging," said HKFE Executive Director Jimmy Ho, who heads the Exchange's Products Division. "It is going to take time to build substantial liquidity, but we are confident that volume will grow."

"PSI Futures and Options give investors an opportunity to use the Hong Kong property market's ups and downs to their advantage so they are excellent products for this market place and we think they have a very bright future," Mr, Ho added.

The Hong Kong Futures Exchange is a leading futures and options marketplace in the Asia Pacific Region, with a membership of over 130 companies, including a number of major international institutions. The Exchange is actively diversifying its product base, which now includes currency, interest rate and equity-based products.
