CLARIFICATION ANNOUNCEMENT

Joint Announcement dated 27 July 2001 on the
Market Consultation and Changes to the Rules governing the Listing of Securities on
the Growth Enterprise Market ("GEM Listing Rules") of
The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited

The reference to GEM Listing Rule 11.14(1) in item 8 under the section "PRINCIPLES OF THE PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE GEM LISTING RULES" in the Joint Announcement should be to GEM Listing Rule 11.23(1).

We wish to clarify that a typographical error was made in the joint announcement dated 27 July 2001 on the market consultation and changes to the GEM Listing Rules (the "Joint Announcement"). The reference to GEM Listing Rule 11.14(1) in item 8 under the section "PRINCIPLES OF THE PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE GEM LISTING RULES" in the Joint Announcement regarding the minimum prescribed percentage of securities to be in public hands should be to GEM Listing Rule 11.23(1).
