New Derivative Warrant Resource Centre Added to HKEx Website

Corporate
15 May 2006

As part of its commitment to enhancing the investing public’s understanding of derivative warrants (DW), HKEx today introduced a new web-based Derivative Warrant Resource Centre (DWRC) that offers investors easy access to DW information for educational and reference purposes.

Major features of the DWRC include:

An integrated information resource centre which is easy to navigate and gives investors access to all the important warrant information, including listing documents, information on re-issuance and basic terms, and technical data;
A search function which enables investors to select different warrants with similar terms for comparison;
A new set of enhanced warrant market education materials and tools;
Enhanced warrant data, including daily trading summaries filed by the warrant issuers, which are downloadable by investors for ease of analysis; and
DW-related information in both English and Chinese where practicable.

In addition, investors can view a list of newly launched DW and expiring DW, and further issue information.  Investors also have access to technical data about DW, including implied volatility and delta, which will enable them to learn more about the various factors that affect DW prices (the day-end data on implied volatility and delta are calculated and provided by Reuters Hong Kong Ltd).

The development of DWRC gives the investing public a new resource centre where they can learn about all the DW listed on the Stock Exchange. It also supports the Securities and Futures Commission’s initiatives on investor education and information dissemination contained in its Six-Point Plan Report published in March this year.  HKEx believes that the DWRC will help investors understand the features and risks of DW better, and it encourages investors to visit the resource centre before investing in DW.
