The Hang Seng Index (HSI) closed at 19327.73 today, up 1695.27 points, the third largest point rise in history. It was the largest point rise since 23 January 2008 when the index was up 2332.54 points. The HSI’s 9.61 percentage rise today was the 13th largest in history. It was the largest in percentage terms since 23 January 2008 when the index was up 10.72 per cent. |

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (H-shares index) closed at 9974.67 today, up 1340.94 points, the second largest point rise in history. It was the largest point rise since 23 January 2008 when the index was up 1367.62 points. The H-share index’s 15.53 per cent rise today was the third largest in percentage terms in history. It was the largest in percentage terms since 2 February 1998 when the index was up 18.22 per cent. |

Today’s securities market turnover value was $124,674 million, the 10th largest in 2008. |

|
Today’s turnover values for H-share and red-chip companies were $53,893 million and $16,948 million respectively. |
