HKEx Launches Revamped Corporate Website

Corporate
14 Mar 2010

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) launched its revamped corporate website today, introducing a facility with a new look and streamlined navigation.

The HKEx website (www.hkex.com.hk) is a primary channel for HKEx to communicate with its many stakeholders, including Exchange and Clearing Participants, listed companies, investors, HKEx shareholders, information vendors, news media, other regulators and government bodies.

Between its previous revamp in early 2004 and the latest changes, the amount of information and the volume of traffic on the website increased substantially.  This year’s revamp of the website’s overall look and information architecture was based on comments received from both internal and external users, as well as focus groups led by a professional consultant.

In addition to its new look and streamlined navigation path, certain information was regrouped and nearly all content has been categorised into eight main sections to make the website more user-friendly. (Please see the attached table for changes in the location of specific content in HKEx’s revamped website.  A quick guide to HKEx’s revamped website is available).

The news alert service was also enhanced.  As a result, an email will be sent to subscribers whenever there is update of the content related to the Listing Rules and Guidance on Listing Matters. The news alert service also continues to cover news releases, rule amendments and research reports.  Individuals can subscribe for the enhanced news alerts together with the listed company information alerts offered under the Investment Service Centre with a single account and password and receive alerts on both HKEx website content updates and the announcements of listed companies they have selected, including alerts on the companies’ Disclosure of Interests filings.

“We revamped the HKEx website because we want to continue to provide quality information services and to meet the expectations of investors and other market participants,” said HKEx Chief Executive Charles Li.

“The rollout of the revamped website is only part of our continuing efforts to upgrade our services,” Mr Li added.  “Going forward, we will consider further enhancements of our online information facilities such as launching an RSS service based on the revamped website platform.”

The launch of the revamped corporate website has not affected listed issuers’ regulatory filings and disclosures, Disclosure of Interests filings by substantial shareholders and directors, and the information HKEx provides on shareholdings of Participants of the Central Clearing and Settlement System, which continue to be displayed on the HKExnews website (www.hkexnews.hk).
