HKEx Information Services Limited (HKEx-IS), a wholly-owned member of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) Group, and China Securities Index Company Limited (CSIC), a joint venture between Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange, today (Monday) signed an agreement for the distribution of CSIC Indexes via the HKEx-IS market data platform.

The agreement was signed by CSIC General Manager Ma Zhigang and HKEx-IS Director Bryan Chan.  HKEx Chief Executive Charles Li and other senior officials from both parties also attended and witnessed the signing ceremony.

From Monday, 5 July 2010, three CSIC indexes – CSI 300 Index, CSI Hong Kong 100 Index and CSI Cross-Straits 500 Index – will be disseminated through the HKEx-IS Market Data feed system.  The CSI 300 Index will also be displayed on the home page of the HKEx website.

HKEx-licensed information vendors will be permitted to deliver the CSI Hong Kong 100 Index and the CSI Cross-Straits 500 Index to their customers, but they will be required to obtain prior written approval from CSIC or its designated agent, China Investment Information Services Limited, if they wish to provide the CSI 300 Index. 

The collaboration is expected to benefit both parties and help broaden the dissemination of major Mainland China and Hong Kong indexes compiled by CSIC in Hong Kong and overseas by taking advantage of the vast, powerful market data-distribution network of HKEx and its licensed information vendors.  

“We are happy to collaborate with HKEx as it helps elevate CSIC’s influence in the market outside Mainland China and forms a good foundation for our further development in the Hong Kong market,” said Dr Ma.

“We always focus on our service commitment and how we can enhance our market data service.  CSIC indexes will enrich our market data content and, I believe, will be welcomed by our customers”, said Mr Chan, who is also HKEx’s Head of Market Data Department.  

“We look forward to further collaboration with CSIC on the basis of this index distribution agreement,” added Mr Chan.
