HKEx Hosts Hong Kong’s First Securities Market Open Ceremony

Corporate
03 Jan 2012

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) hosted Hong Kong’s first securities market open ceremony (MOC) today (Tuesday) to mark the beginning of trading in 2012.

HKEx Chairman Ronald Arculli and Chief Executive Charles Li struck a gong to open the market.  HKEx Directors Laura Cha, Moses Cheng, Bill Kwok, Vincent Lee, Michael Lee and Oscar Wong, several members of HKEx’s Senior Management Committee, three of HKEx’s newest employees, who joined the company today, and two members of the staff who began their exchange careers before the Trading Hall opened in the Exchange Square in 1986 also attended the ceremony.  The new and experienced staff members represented the way forward for HKEx as it gears up to capture new opportunities in an increasingly competitive environment while maintaining its solid foundation.

The MOC is part of the issuer services HKEx introduced in October last year with a view towards increasing the visibility of listed companies.  An MOC gives representatives and guests of listed companies a unique opportunity to celebrate the company’s IPO anniversary or another company milestone.

A video clip and photos of today’s MOC have been posted on the HKEx website under the “Products and Services” section.  Clips and photos of future ceremonies also will be available from the website.
