HKEx Announces Asia Commodities Appointment

Corporate
08 Apr 2014

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has appointed Cecelia Zhong as Head of China Derivatives Business Development for its Asia Commodities Department.

Ms Zhong joined HKEx on 7 April 2014 and reports to Rebecca Brosnan, HKEx’s Head of Asia Commodities.

Together with the current team, Ms Zhong will help expand the London Metal Exchange’s business in Asia and build a new commodities business in HKEx’s derivatives market in Hong Kong.  She will work closely with Bonnie Liu, the Asia Commodities Department’s Head of Product Development, who joined HKEx in June of last year from Australia’s Macquarie Bank, where she was Head of China Commodities Research.

Most recently Ms Zhong was Head of Greater China for New York-based NYSE Euronext.  She set up and ran their Hong Kong office and expanded the exchange operator’s derivatives business considerably.  She joined NYSE Liffe, now part of NYSE Euronext, in London in 2007 as a senior analyst of fixed income derivatives.

Ms Zhong holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Mainland’s Northeastern University and an MBA in Finance from Edinburgh Business School in the UK, and she is a CFA charter-holder.

“Cecelia has many years of international experience and is well known in Mainland derivatives circles,” said Romnesh Lamba, HKEx’s Co-head of Global Markets.  “She is a great addition to our Asia Commodities team as we prepare to introduce the team’s first products.”
