Women's Exchange at HKEx Event Spotlights Women Opting Back In

Corporate
24 Nov 2014

The Women's Exchange at HKEx (Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited) hosted a reception today (Monday) to spotlight women who opted back into full time employment.

The Women's Exchange at HKEx (the Women's Exchange) was initiated by HKEx staff in 2013.  It aims to promote the development of policies and programmes within the company that support women in leadership roles.  It also encourages the creation of community outreach programmes which connect HKEx staff with the company's female clients and further women's issues through the company's corporate social responsibility agenda.

Today's reception shared the Women's Exchange's 2013-2014 achievements and featured remarks by Christine Wong, HKEx's Chief Counsel and Head of Legal Services, and Michele Windsor, a Hong Kong-based Executive Director of Goldman Sachs (Asia) L.L.C, on their experience of “Opting Back In” to the corporate world and the lessons they learned.

HKEx Chief Executive Charles Li noted in his opening remarks the important role of the "Back to Work Programme" in HKEx’s recruitment of senior staff.

"Women who choose to opt back in are an incredible pool of talent that is often undervalued and overlooked.  The "Back to Work Programme" helps us to attract professionals who have the kind of skills and experience we need," said Mr Li.  "The programme is off to a very good start and we are confident it will continue to contribute to our success in the years ahead."

In addition to the "Back to Work Programme", the Women's Exchange has presented a series of Luncheon Talks about "Breaking the Glass Ceiling", a Financial Literacy Programme, and participated in a series of events engaging women around the financial markets of Hong Kong.
