Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) is pleased to announce today (Monday) the appointment of Mr Carl Wong as Managing Director, Head of External Communications.
Mr Wong will join HKEX on 21 September 2026 and in this new role, he will be responsible for overseeing HKEX’s external communications functions, including media relations, social media, content development and speechwriting, leading a dedicated team of communications and content specialists. He will report to HKEX Group Chief Communications Officer, Jeffrey Ng.
Mr Wong joins HKEX from Manulife, where he spent more than a decade in senior communications positions, most recently in a dual role as Head of External Communications for Manulife Asia and Head of Communications, Asia, for Manulife Investment Management.

He brings over 25 years of experience across the financial and corporate communications spectrum, including leadership counsel, issues management, digital storytelling, and talent development. Prior to Manulife, Mr Wong worked at Sun Hung Kai Properties and held senior roles at international public relations firms including Fleishman-Hillard and Ketchum. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Ohio University in the US.
