T+1 is a settlement cycle in which securities transactions are cleared and settled one business day after a trade is executed.
Today, Hong Kong operates on a T+2 settlement cycle, meaning that settlement takes place two business days after the transaction date. Under T+1, the time between trade execution and settlement will be shortened by one day.
HKEX is taking a measured and collaborative approach to the implementation of T+1, recognising that market stability and operational readiness are critical to a successful transition. We will support this transition through enhancements to market processes, operational workflows and supporting infrastructure.
Together with industry-wide collaboration and complementary developments such as the Orion Cash Platform, the initiative aims to deliver a smooth and orderly migration while maintaining market stability and operational resilience.
