The Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE) said Hang Seng (HS) 100 Options volume rose to an all-time high of 1162 contracts today as the Exchange completed its first week of trading on its new HKATS electronic trading system. The previous HS 100 Options volume record was 926 contracts set on Monday, 19 April.

HS 100 options and nearly all other HKFE products trade on HKATS. Hang Seng Index (HSI) Futures and Options, which currently trade in the open outcry environment, are scheduled to migrate to HKATS shortly.

HKFE Chief Executive Randy Gilmore said: "We've had a great week. The transition to HKATS went smoothly and we've had HS 100 Options set two volume records in five days. Those records show HKATS is just as robust and reliable as we expected it to be."

The Hong Kong Futures Exchange is a leading futures and options market place in the Asia Pacific Region, with a membership of over 130 companies, including a number of major international institutions. The Exchange is actively diversifying its product base, which now includes currency, interest rate and equity-based products.
