Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) welcomes the Government's announcement today (Friday) of the appointment of Henry Fan Hung-ling as a public interest director representing investing public and public interests on the HKEx Board.

Mr Fan's appointment shall take effect from 15 November 2003 and expire at the end of the annual general meeting in 2005.

After the new appointment takes effect, the Directors of HKEx are:
