Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) announced on 12 September 2006 that Patrick Conroy, its Chief Operating Officer, had informed the board of directors of HKEx (Board) of his intention to return to the United States for career development purposes.  Subsequently, Mr Conroy, under a mutual agreement with HKEx, decided to resign from his positions as Chief Operating Officer of HKEx and Chief Executive of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (SEHK) effective 9 February 2007.

A selection committee has been established to recommend a successor to Mr Conroy for the approval of the Board.  Gerald Greiner, the Deputy Chief Operating Officer of HKEx, has been appointed to act temporarily as Chief Operating Officer of HKEx and Chief Executive of SEHK until the successor to the positions is appointed.  The temporary appointment of Mr Greiner to the above positions has been approved by the Securities and Futures Commission pursuant to sections 70 and 26 of the Securities and Futures Ordinance respectively.

An announcement on the matter has been posted on the HKEx website:
