HKEx Unveils Women's Exchange to Promote Women's Participation in Corporate Leadership

Corporate
21 May 2013

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) is promoting the active participation of women in leadership roles within the company through the launch of the Women’s Exchange, which was unveiled today (Tuesday).

The Women's Exchange was initiated by HKEx staff.  It aims to promote the development of policies and programmes within the company that support women in leadership roles.  It also encourages the creation of community outreach programmes which connect HKEx staff with the company’s female clients and further women’s issues through the company's corporate social responsibility agenda.

Among the first initiatives launched with the support of the Women's Exchange is the "Back to Work Programme", which will provide a route back to the workplace for professional women who have been out of corporate life for an extended period for family reasons.  This is an untapped pool of talent that has the potential to contribute to HKEx and the financial industry.

"Creating a positive environment where women can thrive in senior leadership positions is something we feel passionate about as a company," said HKEx Chief Executive Charles Li. "We strongly believe the Women's Exchange will help us achieve a healthier gender balance at senior levels while benefiting HKEx culturally and commercially."

The Women's Exchange is open to all staff within HKEx Group.
