HKEx Supports Give & Gain Day 2013

Corporate
23 May 2013

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) participated in this year’s Give & Gain Day campaign, joining an international movement that mobilises employees to serve the community by volunteering during work hours.  This is the third consecutive year HKEx supported the campaign, which comprises companies committed to organising and supporting their employees to serve the community on a voluntary basis.

This year, HKEx partnered with TREATS and Bo Charity Foundation to support "Promote Social Inclusion for All Children" and "Fight Against Food Waste" during the Give & Gain Day campaign.  TREATS is a local charity that focuses on children’s social integration.  It provides integration opportunities for all children in Hong Kong, including the underprivileged and the disabled.  Bo Charity Foundation collaborates with businesses in Hong Kong to deliver surplus food – food that would otherwise go to waste – to those in need.

In partnership with TREATS, HKEx organised a one-day Community Exploration Programme for 45 primary school students, including some with mild mental challenges or autism, to promote social integration.

HKEx volunteers also supported Bo Charity Foundation’s Bread Angel Programme by collecting over 1,138 packages of surplus bread from 14 cake shops for delivery to beneficiaries of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

A total of 29 HKEx volunteers contributed 168 service hours during the activities.

HKEx's support for Give & Gain Day demonstrates its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.
