Stabilisation period for HKATS' software upgrade has been completed

Market Operations
17 Oct 2003

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) announced today (Friday, 17 October 2003) that the stabilisation period for the upgraded software in its derivatives trading system, the Hong Kong Futures Automated Trading System (HKATS), has ended.

The stabilisation period, which began on Monday, 6 October 2003 with the upgrade of the HKATS software from OMex 15.2 to OMex 17.1 HKATS, was a prudent measure to ensure the Derivatives Market was ready in the unlikely event of fallback to OMex 15.2 software.

The successful introduction of OMex 17.1 software paves the way for the introduction of DCASS, the Derivatives Clearing and Settlement System, scheduled for next year.

HKATS has several new functions as a result of this months software upgrade and more will be available following the introduction of DCASS.

We appreciate the efforts of Exchange Participants and our staff on the HKATS software upgrade, which would not have been implemented successfully without their co-operation and support, said HKEx deputy chief operating officer Lawrence Fok. We are now looking forward to the successful rollout of DCASS, Mr Fok added.
